DFDS Seaways urges travellers to take action now to avoid potential ash cloud disruption

Date published: 23 May 2011

DFDS Seaways (formerly Norfolkline) Dover – France is urging travellers to consider booking alternative arrangements for travel over the next few days to avoid any potential air disruption due to the Icelandic volcanic eruption.

For those looking for an alternative way to travel to avoid cancellations and delays can be reassured that any ash that spreads from the volcano will not affect ferry services.

The DFDS Seaways Dover-Dunkirk ferry route is operating to schedule and currently has availability over the next few days, and into the Bank Holiday weekend for passengers travelling with cars.

Fares for journeys between Dover and Dunkirk start from just £25 each way for a car and up to four passengers. In addition, for return tickets booked before 28 May, DFDS Seaways is currently offering £10 off return tickets for a car and up to four people on its Dover – France route. This is valid for travel until 15th December 2011* (terms and conditions apply).

DFDS Seaways sails into Dunkirk, which is situated in the North of France, with easy access to the main European arterial roads. At only 30km east of Calais, Dunkirk is an ideal entry point to France, and is a lot less congested than Calais.

Please note that DFDS Seaways does not carry foot passengers on its Dover-France route.
