DFDS Seaways raises £300 for Seafarers UK
Date published: 4 November 2011
Dover-France ferry operator, DFDS Seaways, has raised £300 for Seafarers UK, the leading charity for the maritime community.
The Charity holds an annual ‘Fish and Chip Feast’, and to help raise money, the team at DFDS Seaways took part by donating a percentage of every portion of fish and chips sold on board during a 24-hour period, earlier this month.
Seafarers UK raises funds for the country’s maritime community, helping to support deep sea fishermen and their families, some of who are facing poverty and bereavement as a result of their occupation.
Russel McKelvey, onboard sales director for the English Channel said: “We were proud to be involved with such a great event and delighted that our passengers and on board staff were able to raise money for such a worthwhile cause.”
“As part of the seafaring community, we are very aware of the importance of this charity and the work it does to raise awareness of the issues that seafarers face as part of their every day working life.”
“Fish and Chip Feast is a great way to get the general public thinking about seafarers and the dangers that they face every day whilst at sea.”
