DFDS Seaways wins Freedom of the Borough award

Cruise ferry operator, DFDS Seaways has been awarded the Freedom of the Borough of North Tyneside in recognition of the contribution the company has had on the local economy and tourism industry.

Following a vote by the members of North Tyneside Council the award has been approved and arrangements will now be made for a formal ceremony later this year. DFDS Seaways employs approximately 60 people at its offices at the International Ferry Terminal in North Shields and operates a daily ferry service between Amsterdam and North Shields in both directions.

More than 560,000 passengers travelled on the route last year with growing numbers of European visitors, from Holland and Germany in particular, using the route to access the region.

DFDS Seaways works closely with key UK marketing agencies like VisitBritain, Enjoy England and NewcastleGateshead Initaitive to develop inbound sales and marketing campaigns to promote UK holidays to those living on the continent.
