Autumn Breaks with DFDS Seaways

Travel to France in September and visit the famous vineyards. Book now to receive 20% off return crossings!

DFDS Seaways, the award-winning ferry operator, is encouraging holidaymakers to take a break in France to enjoy the autumn colours and beauty of the European countryside at harvest time, with a 20% discount.

September is a fantastic time to visit France with low travel and accommodation costs and no school holiday crowds to contend with. DFDS Seaways passengers can travel from as little as £40 return for a car and up to nine passengers. To make the most of these discounted crossings, customers need to book between 7 and 14 August to travel between 9 and 30 September 2013.

September is a great time for wine-lovers to visit France, where the world-renowned wine regions such as Burgundy or Champagne are harvesting and pressing the grapes. As well as offering an insight into the wine-making process, many vineyards are open to the public for wine tasting tours.

For those wanting to sample other regional refreshments, the Calvados and Perry producing farms in Normandy or the cider town of Aix-en-Othe in the region of Champagne-Ardenne offer a fantastic alternative. Here visitors can try their hand at apple pressing and cider production before sampling the finished product.

Max Foster, UK passenger director at DFDS Seaways, says: “The onset of autumn is a great time of year to enjoy the picturesque colours of the French scenery and travel further afield without the school holiday traffic. For holidaymakers who enjoy a leisurely pace it is a good opportunity to take in the changing autumn vistas and explore the country by ferry and car. And with none of the luggage restrictions associated with air travel, there is normally plenty of room for transporting your favourite wine or tipple home with you.”

DFDS Seaways sails up to 44 times a day between the Dover and France, providing passengers with flexible crossing times, a luxury on-board travel experience and convenient travel options. Whilst onboard a DFDS Seaways ferry, passengers can dine in one of the onboard restaurants or shop for holiday essentials.
