Local family stars in new DFDS Seaways ad campaign
A family of four from North Tyneside takes to the TV screen as they become the face of the DFDS Seaways’ 2013 advertising campaign rolling out across TV, press adverts and direct marketing for the cruise ferry operator.
Julia and Trevor Briscoe from North Tyneside along with their two children, Cole age 6 and Anna age 4, were chosen by the cruise ferry company to feature in their advertising for 2013. The family took a video camera on their family holiday in 2012 and filmed their experience. The footage was then used to create a TV advert.
Julia said: “We were so pleased when we got the call from DFDS Seaways to appear in their adverts! We’ve travelled with them several times and it’s always so much fun. The kids really enjoy every trip from beginning to end so filming the advert was a fantastic experience for us all. Holland holds a special place in our hearts because it’s where my husband and I first met so every trip is memorable.
“We used our imagination and filmed as much of the holiday as possible and it was bizarre seeing ourselves on TV but we enjoyed every minute of our time together. It was a great experience that we’ll never forget.”
Catherine Jowett, advertising manager at DFDS Seaways said: “The results are fantastic. We believe that a customer’s holiday begins when they board one of our cruise ferries. There’s so much to do on board for families including a Kids’ Club and deck areas to play, as well as restaurants, shops, bars and a cinema. We wanted to really portray the real-life experience of couples and families as they travel with us and I’m pleased the adverts were able to capture the magical moments people enjoyed on their crossing with us.”
The Briscoe famioly were then asked back on board to take part in a photoshoot so DFDS Seaways could use images of the family in other advertising such as press adverts, direct mails, as well as on the DFDS Seaways website. Catherine Jowett continues: “We were looking for everyday couples and families to show us their true experience of travelling on our Newcastle to Amsterdam route. We weren’t looking for actors or models for this campaign, just people that we could entrust with a video camera to see what footage they came back with and it has worked really well.”
