Portsmouth-Le Havre route closure

Sadly our Portsmouth to Le Havre route closed on 30 December 2014.

But don’t worry there are still an number of convenient alternative routes to France with DFDS Seaways, including a route from Newhaven to Dieppe and routes from Dover to Dunkirk and Calais.

Newhaven-Dieppe route

Gateway to Normandy and beyond

Newhaven is 60 miles east of Portsmouth and is easily accessible from the London and the south east, the south west, Wales and further afield.

Like Le Havre, Dieppe is located on the Normandy coast and has excellent motorway links to Normandy, Brittany, western and central France. Dieppe is also the closest port to Paris.

Newhaven-Dieppe offers 2 or 3 daily sailings in each direction depending on the time of year and the crossing takes just 4 hours.

The price for a car and 2 people is from just £39 way and from £47 for a car, 2 adults and 2 children so it’s great value too. Find out more about the Newhaven-Dieppe route as an alternative to Portsmouth-Le Havre.

Dover-Dunkirk & Dover Calais

Gateway to Normandy and beyond

We are the only ferry operator with 2 routes from Dover, so you can choose the route and sailing time which suits your plans. You can even return to the UK from either port no matter which you sailed out from.

The routes offer up to 22 daily sailings in each direction throughout the day and night and the crossings to Dunkirk take 2 hours and 90 minutes to Calais.

Both ports have quick and easy access to France’s superb motorway network, and while Calais is ideal for central and southern France, Dunkirk is more convenient if you are heading to Holland, Belgium, Germany or eastern Europe.

Travel on Dover-Dunkirk from £35 each way for a car and up to 9 people and on Dover-Calais from £39 each way.
