Hamelin was the setting for the much loved children’s story of the Pied Piper of Hamelin, and to this day remains a magical place. The beautiful medieval town hosts one of Germany’s most popular Christmas markets located in the picturesque old quarter. Here you will find over 70 festively decorated wooden huts and stalls clustered together to create an enchanting land of lights, characters and decorations. Highlights of the market include the nativity scene with real animals, Christmas pyramid and giant advent calendar. The stalls sell an array of well-crafted gifts, tasty local treats and delicious mulled wine.

The entire market is bathed in the soft light of the decorations around the square, creating an understated yet warming festive atmosphere. In addition to around 65 stalls, there is an ice rink where you can enjoy a quiet skate. For those looking for an authentic traditional Christmas market, Hamelin iwll make you feel as though you’ve really stepped back in time.
