Bruges Christmas markets
Each Christmas, hundreds and hundreds of market stalls are set out across the town centre of Bruges, turning its already-charming streets into fairytale festive towns and plazas. The stands are packed with traditional wooden toys for children, confectionery, gifts, jewellery and more. There are also fairground rides, an outdoor ice-rink and horses and carts for you to enjoy, all the while, the scent of honey waffle biscuits and other classic Belgian food hangs in the air.
Bruges is famous for being one of the prettiest cities in Europe, with wonderful architecture and canals intersecting the cobbled streets. Whether you’re travelling with friends, as a couple or as a family, there is plenty to do in the city. Visit one of the city’s many Guild-of-Chocolatier-approved chocolate shops, go on a scenic winter canal tour of the city, or, for a real festive treat, jump in a hot air balloon and see the city from above.
