Exploring Amsterdam

Amsterdam Dungeons

Couples

There are many things for couples to enjoy in Amsterdam, from a relaxing canal cruise together to just enjoying a stroll through the quaint city streets or through Vondelpark. There are plenty of places to relax together, either in the traditional ‘brown cafés’ or in a chic bar or restaurant. Do some shopping together in the Negen Straatjes (Nine Streets) area, or visit the Van Gogh Musuem * to appreciate some fine art.

Families

Amsterdam is a great day out for families and there are plenty of child-friendly attractions such as the Amsterdam Zoo or Science Centre NEMO. If it’s bad weather then head for TunFun, a huge underground play zone, whilst kids will love exploring Vondelpark if it’s fine. You can also enjoy a family trip along the famous Amsterdam canals, or see Anne Frank’s House where children will easily relate to her story.

Friends

Enjoy a trip to the Heineken Experience or the House of Bols to sample the finest tipples Amsterdam has to offer, or visit the Xtracold Icebar for a unique experience where the entire bar is forged in ice. Leidseplein is a good place to enjoy a meal and a drink, with its mix of locals and tourists plus street entertainers and buskers in a vibrant atmosphere. If you feel like carrying on the scary theme, then visit the Amsterdam Dungeons where the city’s dark past comes terrifyingly alive!

*Please note: from 29 September 2012 until 25 April 2013, the Van Gogh Museum will be temporarily hosted by the Hermitage Amsterdam due to refurbishment.
