Operation Dynamo

Operation Dynamo

Operation Dynamo and the famous Dunkirk evacuation have become synonymous with the French city, and are widely regarded as one of the UK’s proudest military moments, showcasing a never-say-die attitude which saved thousands of lives and helped turn the tide of the war.

To commemorate Operation Dynamo, there are a number of events taking place throughout May, and a museum dedicated to the event set to open in September. You can also pay a visit to the Dunkirk War Museum, open every day. The Dunkirk Cemetery and Memorial is also just outside of the city, and commemorates soldiers who served in the First and Second World Wars, from France and the UK.
