MILLIONTH DFDS MINI-CRUISER SURPRISED WITH FREE CABIN UPGRADE, BALLOONS AND CHAMPAGNE AT THE PORT OF TYNE
DFDS celebrates 15,330 journeys with lucky winner on Newcastle to Amsterdam service.
Jeanette Morgan, from Hartlepool, was given a welcome surprise at the Port of Tyne on Tuesday 24 May. Checking in for a DFDS mini-cruise to Amsterdam, she became the millionth passenger to travel on the service, which is celebrating 21 successful years this year. Jeanette suddenly found herself being showered in bunting and balloons, offered champagne and given a luxury cabin upgrade for free.
As an extra treat, during her overnight journey, Jeanette was given full VIP treatment, including free wine and a la carte meals, plus an exclusive visit to the ferry bridge to meet the ship’s Captain.
Delighted Jeanette said: “It was such a lovely surprise to find out I was the millionth mini-cruise passenger. I’m very grateful to DFDS for this, it will certainly make the trip even more memorable. Today is definitely my lucky day!”
Max Foster, passenger director at DFDS, commented: “Between them, our two North Sea ships – King Seaways and Princess Seaways – have completed 15,330 journeys and sailed enough miles to go around the world 188 times! In light of this major milestone for DFDS’ mini-cruises, what better way to mark the occasion than by celebrating with our millionth customer?
“We were delighted to have been able to offer Jeanette a full VIP treatment on this very special occasion, and hope she enjoys the mini-cruise as much as her stay in Amsterdam.”
In addition to the millionth passenger surprise, DFDS are also running a ‘One in a Million’ competition to celebrate extraordinary people in the local community that have made a difference to someone else’s life. The lucky winner will win a VIP mini cruise to Amsterdam including a steak meal for two onboard the ferry’s restaurant and free bottle of wine at the Café de Blauwe Parade in Amsterdam. Listen out on Metro Radio for the lucky winner to be announced.
DFDS sails daily with overnight departures from Newcastle to Amsterdam. The cruise ferries on this service are equipped with four restaurants serving freshly prepared food, such as the Explorers’ Steakhouse, an all-you-can-eat world-food buffet in the 7 Seas, the Blue Riband à la carte restaurant and ‘Little Italy’, a pasta and pizza restaurant. There are also a number of cafes and bars, as well as live music from a house band and acoustic troubadour. Other onboard facilities include a shop, a casino, a cinema and a kidz club to keep children entertained.
