DFDS cruise ferries King Seaways and Princess Seaways visited Sunderland International Airshow as proud supporters of the event and sponsors of the Tigers Freefall Parachute Display Team.
The two ships took time out of their scheduled sailings between Newcastle and Amsterdam on both Saturday and Sunday to give the 1,250 passengers onboard an unforgettable view of the awe-inspiring aerobatic aircraft displays taking part in the internationally renowned event.
Not only could passengers watch the displays out on deck, but they could also spot marine life out at sea with wildlife charity ORCA, enjoy a tasty meal and also sit back to live entertainment from the ships’ bands and singers.
Max Foster, passenger director at DFDS, comments, “We are delighted to once again to be one of the sponsors of Sunderland International Airshow. It is an amazing event and both our passengers onboard the ship and the public on shore enjoyed it immensely.
“What’s more, we were pleased to see the Tigers Freefall Parachute Display Team this year. We have sponsored the team for the past 12 months and we hope that all of our passengers and the public at the airshow enjoyed watching them drop by.
"We were thrilled to have DFDS' involvement once again in Sunderland International Airshow, especially so, to have secured the Tigers Freefall Parachute Display Team, thanks to their sponsorship. The Tigers, who displayed twice over the weekend, proved to be a huge hit with the crowds," said Karen Makepeace, Programme Development Manager, Sunderland Live.
DFDS operate daily sailings between Newcastle and Amsterdam and as well as the popular Amsterdam mini cruise, they offer special themed sailings throughout the year including a gourmet Taste of Cruising mini cruise, a Halloween themed cruise, North Sea Sounds music mini cruises and marine wildlife mini cruises.
