Frequently Asked Questions

1. Is my departure delayed?

We always strive to sail according to the sailing schedule. On this page you will find current information about arrival and departure times and changes to the sailing schedule. If your departure is delayed, we will post it online as soon as possible.

2. What happens if my departure is delayed?

Just as with the train or the plane, it can happen that we are delayed due to the weather or other circumstances. Unfortunately, we cannot do anything about delays of up to 90 minutes. The safety of our passengers is always paramount. We therefore strive to provide you with up-to-date information as much as possible.

For delays longer than 90 minutes, DFDS will always try to compensate you appropriately. A number of exceptions apply:

  • Cancellation or delay caused by weather conditions that endanger the safe operation of the ship

  • Exceptional circumstances that hamper the performance of passenger services that could not have been prevented, nor if reasonable measures had been taken

Of course we always strive to find a suitable solution with the customer. You can contact us by telephone for this. Any additional costs associated with the rebooking will of course be passed on.

3. If I am delayed on the outward journey, can I reschedule my return journey?

With a delay of more than 90 minutes, DFDS will always try to help you find a suitable solution. This is always based on availability. You can contact us by telephone for this. Any additional costs associated with the rebooking will of course be passed on.

4. Can I reschedule or cancel my trip in the event of a known delay?

It is possible to reschedule or cancel your trip. Standard cancellation conditions as stated in our Terms and Conditionsapply to canceling your trip With a known delay of 90 minutes or longer, DFDS will always try to help you find a suitable solution. This is always based on availability. You can contact us by telephone for this. Any additional costs associated with the rebooking will of course be passed on.

5. Why is DFDS sometimes delayed?

Fortunately it does not happen often, but just like with a plane or train, a ship can be delayed. Usually this has to do with weather conditions or currents. For example, with headwind or crosswind, the captain can choose to go slower or choose a quieter route. Safety is always paramount. Even when the wind is not blowing, the wind can still be in the waves and cause swell. In addition, strong flooding may delay the ship.

6. What time should I check in at the latest?

DFDS always uses the usual check-in times as indicated on your confirmation, even in the event of a delay. If we deviate from the usual check-in times, you will be notified if possible. That is why it is important that we have your mobile phone number so that we can easily reach you.

7. Is the transfer bus leaving at the original time?

Yes, the transfer bus leaves at the original time, also in the event of a delay. If we deviate from the usual times, you will be notified if possible.

8. What time does the ship leave?

Through this page we will do everything to provide you with current travel information. We strive to sail according to the regular sailing schedule.
