De Parade

De Parade

This 67-day festival takes place from the end of June until the end of August in Holland. It’s a travelling theatre that visits the four main cities of the Netherlands.

At each city the Parade erupts into a carnival-style festival, with 60 performances taking place inside the main tent, including theatre, music, mime and more.

The final leg of the tour takes place in Amsterdam at Martin Luther King Park in late August. The festival’s vibrancy and vitality makes it absolutely unmissable.

Over het IJ Festival

Over het IJ Festival

Offering both indoor and outdoor locations, this summer theatre festival runs for 10 days in July with approximately 25 theatrical performances. The shows are typically performed in a modern and postmodern style of performance, with interesting subject matter than makes for excellent conversation afterwards. Ranging from dance to drama, it’s a thought-provoking event perfect for culture-hunters. This year’s exhibitions include a theatre constructed entirely of paper and Future Land which explores humankind’s relationship with the environment we inhabit.

The city becomes alive with colour, love and unity for this event running from 29 July – 6 August. There are around 200 events including performances, debates, lectures and church services, as well as amazing parties that last the full week.

Beginning as a stage for young talent in 1998, it has grown from a 4-day event nearly 20 years ago. It now boasts 150 concerts across a range of stages which can be viewed from all over the city including private homes, gardens, roof terraces, canal houses and hotel suites.

Zoomeravonden

Zoomeravonden

From June through to August Amstedam’s famous and historical ARTIS Zoo will be open every Saturday until evening with performances and events by known artists, musicians and more, as well as workshops for kids.

From making your own edible garden to guided tours to puppetry and theatrical shows, the zoo has so much on for the whole family to enjoy.

You’ll be able to enjoy most of Scorsese’s classic films in the cinema, and view over 400 objects and documents taken from the personal collections of both Martin Scorsese and Robert De Niro.

Amsterdam Bos Events

Amsterdam Bos (Forest) events

Amsterdam Bos is one of Europe’s largest city parks, spanning 1,000 hectares. The forest is located south of the city centre, so it’s best for visitors who are staying in Amsterdam for a few days.

Its well worth a visit however as it boats pools, waterways and lakes, a goat farm, a climbing park, woodland walks and as picturesque open-air theatre.

Across the summer you can enjoy performances from a long list of singer-songwriters and pop acts.
