What’s in store

Sail from Newcastle to Holland on 30 December. Enjoy a buffet dinner and relax in our onboard bars before retiring to your en suite cabin. On arrival in Ijmuiden the next morning, fill up with a complimentary buffet breakfast before heading to Amsterdam to explore the beautiful city’s seasonal treats.

On New Year’s Eve, the ship will then sail into Amsterdam centre while you enjoy your lavish gala buffet or 3 course à la carte dinner before toasting the New Year with a complimentary glass of fizz.

Enjoy live entertainment from swing sensation Jason Isaacs, who will serenade you with his dulcet tones and saxophone sounds. If you’re looking for a more laid-back affair, singer & guitarist, Mick Hutchinson will be performing in the Navigators Pub and for those of you who fancy dancing away until the early hours, DJ Nick Newcombe will be spinning the decks in the Columbus Club.

Start the new year well with a hearty breakfast and head into Amsterdam to explore more of the Dutch capital. Enjoy an international buffet dinner on your return overnight journey on 1 January and arrive back in Newcastle on the morning of 2 January 2020.

All meals are freshly prepared by our talented chefs and are included in the package except breakfast on 2 January, which you can add on for a surcharge.

New Year in Amsterdam

European culture is famous for its celebration of the festive season and Amsterdam is no different.

Try the seasonal cuisines such as oliebollen, a small iced donut, which are said to ward off evil spirits. Don’t forget to try appelflappen, too, classic Dutch apple fritters that will be easy to find here in December.

For daytime activities, most of Amsterdam’s museums are open over the New Year period and across December, Museum Square turns into a magical Christmas village. Or simply strolling by the canals bedecked with Christmas lights, stopping for a warming mug of glühwein is a lovely way to soak up the festive atmosphere of the city.

The winter sales will be in full swing and you can pick up some serious bargains at one of the many boutiques or department stores. The Nine Streets area of the city is filled with charming, independent boutiques with unusual gifts or the department store, Bijenkorf is a delight to visit with its thousands of twinkling lights and festive decorations. You could head to the ice-rink on Rembrandtplein and do a spot of skating and seeing the 20 metre high Christmas tree in Dam Square is a must – it’s decorated with 4 kilometres of Christmas lights!
