Marchés De Noël
Paris’ Christmas markets are unrivalled for their magical beauty. Champs-Ely perhaps hosts the most notable festive market. 200 authentic wooden houses stretch up the entirety of the street, from the ferris wheel at Place de la Concorde, to the dazzling Arc de Triomphe. For a smaller market, visit Notre Dame. A glorious tree stands at the foot of the cathedral, with stalls in the surrounding area.
Foods to Try
Comfort food is a staple during the holiday season, and Paris Christmas markets do not disappoint. French onion soup will warm you to the core, as will Aligot (mashed potatoes with garlic and cheese) and Raclette (more potato and cheese combinations). There’s also fancier options, such as salmon sandwiches and even champagne.
You’ve 4 options to choose from when travelling from the UK to Europe with DFDS. Our Dover-Dunkirk and Calais crossings plant you in northern France in 2 hours and 90 minutes, respectively. Slightly longer is our Newhaven-Dieppe crossing, taking 4 hours, but Dieppe is our closest port to Paris.
