This is something you can easily do as part of your mini cruise booking, and will save you money and time. You can browse the restaurants available to see what entices your taste buds, and choose where you'd like to eat while you're onboard. This also means you're guaranteed a table at your chosen time and restaurant, and you even save money compared to onboard prices.

It's a good idea to get out the guide books and decide where you want to go before you actually step off the ship at your destination, otherwise you might find yourself with several hours to occupy and no idea where you want to go! Check out our Amsterdam travel guides on our website and our Blog for more inspiration.

When planning your day, give yourself plenty of time to enjoy each attraction so you don't end up feeling rushed or missing out on anything. You can always fill a spare hour with a pleasant stroll along the canals or a sit down and a coffee before returning to the ferry port.

You can also check out the onboard entertainment and facilities to see what you'd like to do during your voyage, as well as see what's on offer for kids.

Pack Wisely

It’s easy to overpack when you’re going on short break, especially a cruise. What you bring will naturally depend on the time of year, but stick to comfortable essentials for exploring at your destination, and bring sensible shoes for when you’re onboard. This is especially important for when you’re up on deck if conditions are a bit wet, as is an extra layer or two for those breezy crossings. Having lighter bags also makes it easier for transporting them to the ferry port, and to the hotel if you’re staying for several days at your destination.
