Good Morning, Vietnam, Martha Reeves and the Vandellas have firmly established themselves as superstars of the motown genre. They’ll be performing on both crossings on our North Sea Sounds mini cruise as part of their international tour, celebrating 50 years since the release of their hit single ‘Jimmy Mack’. Listed in
Rolling Stone’s ‘100 Immortal Artists’, make sure you don’t miss out on your chance to see this world-famous band playing hit songs like ‘Dancing in the Street’ and ‘Heatwave’.
Voices of Virtue Gospel Choir
A collection of singers from churches across the region will come together in a beautiful gospel choir as part of the music cruise on both the Friday and Saturday night. You’ll hear both classic and modern gospel songs including ‘Amazing Grace’, and ‘Oh Happy Day’ and songs from the civil rights era such as ‘A Change is Gonna Come’. Watching these outstanding singers, who have also performed in the Houses of Parliament, is a fantastic way to celebrate 50 years since Dr Martin Luther King Jr. was awarded an honorary degree from Newcastle University.
You’ll also hear sets from Nige Brown, one of the most sought after Northern soul DJs. Brown has played sets in Ibiza, Germany, Sweden and more. Toma and Tizer, part of our music cruise last year, will also be there playing Northern and contemporary soul. DJs and musicians from the legendary Wicked Jazz Sounds club nights in Amsterdam will be playing a mix of jazz, hip hop, soul, funk, and more. Big Boss Man DJ, Howard Boss, also, performing, is a mainstay of the Amsterdam soul scene playing the finest in Northern Soul.
